About Cedar Ledger

Five budgeting tools laid out like the pages of an account book.

What it is

Cedar Ledger is a small set of free tools for the everyday side of money: splitting income with the 50/30/20 rule, planning a month line by line, working out net worth, running envelope budgets and seeing a bank statement totalled by category. Each page explains its method in plain words and names the published source it follows.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser. The arithmetic is part of the page, so nothing you type, paste or upload is sent anywhere, and once a page has loaded it keeps working without a connection. The budget planner, net worth sheet, envelopes and category rules are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so they are there when you come back; the privacy page lists each one and how to clear it. There are no accounts, cookies or ads.

Educational use only — not financial advice

Cedar Ledger is for education and personal record-keeping. The tools do arithmetic on the figures you enter and describe common budgeting methods; they do not know your circumstances, they recommend no product, bank or provider, and nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice. For decisions about debt, tax or investments, speak to a qualified, independent adviser.

Who runs it

Cedar Ledger is an independent website. It is not a bank or any other financial institution and is not connected to one.
